Like any fantastic piece of software, Excel includes a tonne of useful keyboard shortcuts. Here are a few of the best.


Inserts the current date with Ctrl+;.

Ctrl+Shift+: Inserts the current time (the colon is what appears in a clock readout, such as 12:00).

Ctrl+Shift+#—Modifies the format of a date.

Strikes through the text in a cell using Ctrl+5.

The current column is hidden by pressing Ctrl+0.

The current row is hidden by pressing the key combination Ctrl + 9.

Ctrl+F6—Changes between open workbooks, or open Excel files in various windows.

The accent mark is indicated by Ctrl+', which is located above the 1 key. This combo changes the sheet's display so that all of the formulae are visible.
